What Does “Teishin” Mean?

The word Teishin (ていしん) refers to a specialized instrument used in traditional Japanese Acupuncture for centuries. Unlike conventional acupuncture needles, a Teishin has a smooth, rounded tip and is used to gently stimulate the body’s meridians and acupuncture points without penetrating the skin. Traditionally handcrafted from precious metals such as gold, silver, copper, and other refined alloys, the Teishin represents one of the highest expressions of Japanese acupuncture—where precision, intention, and subtlety are valued above force.
